About Pike Vegas Motors/Joe DeFries

Joe DeFries was born in the Midwest (South Bend, IN). At age 12 moved to Lima, OH, after graduated from high school and  college I moved to South Florida in 1987. I got married and raised two amazing daughters Courtney and Paige, they were Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders in 2013, 14, 15, and 2016 (very proud papa). In 1988 “It started out as a hobby” bought my first project car for $300 tinkered with it, sold it for $500, then bought a $500 car and sold it. Before I knew it I had several cars and bikes at the house. Very mad at me my wife asked “are you going to sell any of these toys or what?” Well, I did, but I liked a few and before you know it, I had A LOT of toys and this was just a so-called hobby. All the time I was working as a VP for an international stone quarry and tile manufacturer based in Miami, Florida and I was traveling a lot, everything was business business business. I made a rule: when wine and dining with customers, we would never ever talk business after 5pm. Our clients really loved that and more often the conversations were about cars and bikes, so I developed a lot of clients that wanted me to find, restore or build for them their dream machine. I got more serious, got a warehouse and started restoring cars/bikes, and never having my own shop I was using a guy to build my engines, a paint and body guy etc… I would do the build plan and the detail stuff as I am very picky. I really wanted to get out of the corporate world, stop traveling and have my dream job of owning my own shop. One of my best friends moved from Fort Lauderdale to Pikeville, KY. My wife Domi and I visited several times and being burned out with the corporate life, stress of a big city, the humidity, and the traffic we fell in love with the quit town and people of Pikeville, KY. And I now have my dream job Pike Vegas Motors!!!    

1968 Ford Mustang Fastback GT

Custom built FE 427ci side oiler bored .030 over, toploader 4 speed, Hooker Headers and custom MagnaFlow exhaust, new fuel cell, tubed, roll cage, disc brakes, Currie 9-inch rearend, tubed framed custom fiberglass tilt frontend, Python 3305P 2 way security system, 1957 T-Bird hood setup and painted British Racing Green.

Rebuilt 300 in-line six, bored .060 over, taller pistons, new crank shaft, new cylinder head, larger 1.6 exhaust valves, larger 2.20 intake valves, full roller rocker valve train, 1.72 rocker arm ratio, custom grind cam from Comp Cams, Offenhauser single plain intake, Holley 650 four barrel, Hooker Headers, rebuilt transmission and transfer case, 6inch Skyjacker lift kit, 4inch body lift, 37inch Super Swamper TSL radials.

1971 Chevy Cheyenne Super C10

new 383 stroker crate engine, new radiator, new AC compressor, new lines and hoses, new battery, and complete interior redone, paint and body done by someone else.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 four speed

Engine rebuild bored .030, chromed out, painted original color, seat reupholstered, new carpet, and door panels. A donor dashed restored to original look, new speedometer and a Python 3305P 2- way security system.

1969 Chevy Corvette C3

Rebuilt numbers matching 327 bored .030 over, Dyno 335HP, new 700/R four speed overdrive transmission, high performance Eckler exhaust, gas tanks cleaned and resealed, clay bar deep cleaned, clear coated and polished, new chrome rear bumper, new tires,rims, reupholstered seats, new carpet, door panels upholstered, dash came out of another car and a Python 3305P 2 way security system.

1969 Pontiac GTO

Tuned the engine, put on a new MagnaFlow exhaust, new front clip/bumper, fabrication on the hood, PPG painted (we mixed the color), reupholstered the seats and center console, new carpet, refurbished the steering wheel, refurbished wheels and new tires.

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

New paint job, new vinyl top, reupholstered seats, headliner, new carpet, painted dash, tires, rims and with a new Viper.

1970 Chevy Corvette

Eckler’s (25-369849-1) 355ci crate motor, donor Muncie 4 speed transmission, MagnaFlow Corvette Street Series Crossmember Back Performance Exhaust, new valve covers and air cleaner, painted Axalta CAS540 blue, custom color the complete interior, reproduction wheels and BF Goodrich tires.

1970 El Camino SS

396ci with new wiring, new intake and rebuilt carburetor, new air cleaner, rebuilt 4-speed, refurbished center console, reupholstered seats, new carpet, new power windows motors, re-chromed front bumper, painted with racing stripe, and new Magnum wheels and tires.

1970 Ford Bronco

Completely painted black and engine removed and painted engine bay, four inch lift dual-shocks 35 inch tires on 17 Fuel rims, LED headlamps, LED light bar, Custom upholstery seats, door panels, new carpet, custom leather wrapped console, armrest and steering wheel.

1970 Ford F100

Painted, complete interior redesign orange and black, new upholstery and carpet, new tires and rims.

1972 Chevy K5 Blazer

Full restoration, rebuilt original 350 V8 engine with a two wheel drive four speed transmission, Tuff Country lift kit and suspension, new front passenger side quarter panel and door, painted whole truck and painted roof top. Had bumpers done with new chrome and trim moldings, new headlights and front grille, painted the dash, painted door panels, upholstered seats, door panels, cleaned and spot dyed carpet, new gauges, new pedals, all new glass completely around, new spare tire mount, tires and painted wheels.

1972 Datsun 240Z

New front spoiler, new paint Axalta SpectraMaster Neutral Solid Colors CAS988 with racing stripe CAS778, rebuilt 2.8L 5 speed engine with Triple Webber 40’s, Pertronix ignition and coil pack, harmonic balancer, timing chain, radiator, racing suspension, and 4 wheel disc brakes. Interior came from a donor car and completely restored, new tachometer, new speedometer, new temp gauge, new oil pressure gauge, new wheels, and tires.

1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible

Rebuilt 350 with a 442 intake cover, Flowmaster American Thunder Header Back Exhaust System, painted the car no engine bay, new front bumper, headlights, grille, badges, new black top and wheels and tires.

1972 Pontiac Grand Prix

Original 400 motor with a new Flowmaster American Thunder Header-Back Exhaust System, new power brakes, new brake lines, calipers and pads, body work on rear drivers side quarter panel, and painted Axalta Gold Metallic Color YM048. Interior color change from black to white, restored rally  wheels and new tires.

1978 Chevy Corvette

New paint and body work, original engine top end rebuilt, new headers and cat back exhaust, new valve covers,  new headlight motors and lights, new brake master cylinder, new rotors and brake pads, new tires, restored the rims, new automotive carpet, new oir pressure gauge, speedometer, new wood steering wheel and reconditioned the black original seats.

2011 GMC Sierra Quadcab

Lowered, limo tint windows, new wheels, tire and black black super high gloss painted. 

1965 Pontiac GTO

Ground up complete restoration with rebuilt 389 original engine and a 4 speed manual transmission.

1973 Chevy Corvette Convertible

New front bumper and two grilles, new headlight motors, new convertible top and painted Daytona Yellow. Interior seats reupholstered, refurbished center console, dash, and new carpet.

1978 Porsche 911SC Targa

Engine top end was rebuilt with new upgraded timing chain tensioners, ARP head studs and all new gaskets, new fuel system, rebuilt 915 5-speed manual transaxles with a new clutch, painted original period correct Alpine White, refurbished the wheels, reupholstered seats and door panels, restored dash, new carpet, Python Security System and a high output stereo system.

1983 Porsche 911SC Cabriolet

Some body prep work and painted PPG Indishrot Red 75442, new Haartz original convertible top and boot, reupholstered seats, new carpet, new floor mats and new wheels, tires and upgraded to a Python Security System.

2002 CORVETTE Convertible

Rear end collision damage, replaced rear clip and painted, reupholstered driver seat and added a Power Acoustik Caliber Series 4,500w Amplifier, 3,800 Watt 15″ BAMF Series. Subwoofer, and a Python security system

Rebuilt 350/V8 4 barrel Holley, dual exhaust, new large radiator, painted complete car and front bumper, new bench seats, new air conditioning, new rubber door and window seals, new grille, new wood grain steering wheel, new carpet, replace rear tailgate window, new instrument panel and gauges, painted dash and restored, new sway bar kit/bushings, shocks, new luggage rack, new tires and rims. 

1970 Plymouth Duster

Rebuilt 360 and Comp Cams, Mopar valve covers, Mopar air intake cover, MSD ignition, Edelbrock manifold, Eldelbrock aluminum heads, new headers, MagnaFlow street series performance exhaust, new battery, new dual master cylinder, new brake lines, fuel pump, new aluminum radiator, new vinyl top painted and new tires and rims.

All original 402 big block just repainted and put new wheels and tires.

1976 Triumph TR6

Rebuilt engine, rebuild dual Stromberg carburetors, new convertible top, spray chrome bumpers, new wheels, tires and custom painted.

1977 Toyota Celica ST

Rebuilt 2.2L engine with High Energy Solid Flat Tappet Camshaft by COMP Cam, Wiseco Pro Tru Sport Compact Piston Kit, a modified K&N 69 Series Typhoon Intake System, new radiator, new front bumper, grille, headlights and bezel, after market mirrors, door drivers side front quarter panel, and new paint. The interior was completely restored, and refurbished wheels and new tires.

1978 Jeep Wrangler CJ5 4x4

This was a roll over accident. Replaced all body parts, mirrors, windshield, and roll bar and painted. Replaced the passenger seat and put on bar lights.

1979 Mercedes 450SL original engine

New fuel tank and fuel sending unit, new fuel pump and filters, new paint PPG 90372, new front bumper and lights, new convertible top, reupholstered drivers door panel and driver seat, new wood grain steering wheel, powder coated wheels, and new tires

1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans am

Rebuilt 400 V8 Engine bored .030 over Hooker 3107HKR Super Competition Long Tube Headers with Pypes Performance Exhaust Street Pro Crossmember Back Exhaust System, Painted and body work, new front bumper and grille, front left quarter panel, hood, side marker lights, new rims and tires, the interior was done by someone else.

1980 Chevy Corvette

Stock engine swap to a 2005 LS2 motor and power train, Hooker Exhaust Manifolds Titanium Ceramic Finish, customized a MagnaFlow header back system that sounded awesome, light body work and painted PPG Atlantic Blue 190139.

1986 Chevy K10 4x4

Edelbrock Performer Series 600 CFM Carburetor with Electric Choke and found this somewhere an Edelbrock Pro Flo air cleaner, 2inch Rough Country lift kit, two tone paint.
